Summary/Objective

The Assistant Camp Director supports the Camp Director in the planning, coordination, and daily execution of the Yunion’s designated Summer Camp. This role ensures smooth operations across programming, staff coordination, and student experience while helping to bring the camp’s creative vision to life.


The Assistant Camp Director plays a key role in staff support, logistics, communication, and youth engagement, ensuring that all aspects of camp operate efficiently and align with The Yunion’s standards for excellence.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Program Coordination & Execution

Support implementation of daily camp programming and schedule

Assist in coordinating workshops, field trips, and special events

Help execute camp orientation, team assignments, and daily transitions

Support planning and execution of Tech Week and final production


Staff Support & Supervision

Assist in recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding camp staff

Support staff trainings, orientations, and ongoing development

Help monitor staff performance and ensure accountability on assigned posts

Facilitate or co-lead staff and Lead Instructor meetings as needed


Operations & Logistics

Coordinate camp logistics including supplies, materials, and vendor communication

Assist with purchasing and inventory of camp-related items

Support daily setup and breakdown of camp spaces

Help manage sign-in/out processes, scheduling, and transitions


Youth Development & Camp Culture

Support implementation of behavior management systems

Assist in maintaining a safe, structured, and engaging environment

Build positive relationships with campers and families

Support supervision during recess, transitions, and field trips


Production & Event Support

Assist with coordination of production elements (costumes, props, equipment)

Support execution of Picture Day, Workshop Week, and final showcase

Help coordinate external partners (guest artists, photographers, videographers)

Ensure readiness of youth and staff for performances and presentations


Family & Partner Communication

Support communication with parents regarding schedules, expectations, and updates

Assist with coordination of partnerships and external stakeholders

Support Parent Showcase and engagement activities


Administrative Support

Assist with scheduling meetings, trainings, and program activities

Support data collection, evaluations, and post-camp reporting

Contribute to completion of recap materials (e.g., camp video, surveys)


Minimum Qualifications

Strong organizational and coordination skills

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities

Experience working with youth in a structured setting

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to support and guide staff in a team environment

Proficiency in basic office systems and tools


Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience in camp leadership, program coordination, or youth programming

Experience supporting events, productions, or large group programming

Supervisory or team leadership experience

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in education, arts administration, or related field

Expected Work Schedule

April - Up to 10 hours

May - Up to 20 hours

June - Up to 30 hours

June 29-August 7 - Up to 40 hours
